The first edition of the “Global Awards” launched by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is intended to reward SMEs that have “used intellectual property rights to develop solutions that have made a positive contribution to society, economically, socially or culturally” – (Source WIPO).<\/p>\n
The intellectual property rights concerned are mainly patents, trademarks, designs and copyrights.<\/p>\n
This award, for which participation is free, is open to SMEs from any of the 193 WIPO Member States until March 14, 2022<\/strong> (deadline for applications). For the record, Switzerland has been a member state of WIPO since 1970.<\/p>\n An international jury of intellectual property specialists will assess the nominations according to several criteria, including “successful commercialization of intellectual property”, “positive impact on the economy and society” and “diversity of the nominees” (Source: WIPO).<\/p>\n The five winners, drawn from a shortlist of 20 applicants, will be officially announced in July 2022.<\/p>\n WIPO specifies that other “Global Awards” are envisaged in the future, in particular for youth and women.<\/p>\n To be continued…<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For more information on this new award and the application requirements<\/p>\n
