As a reminder, a new prize was created by the EPO in 2022, the Young Inventor’s Prize (any field of technology), designed to reward inventors aged 30 or under at the time of the award. According to the EPO, “the winner receives the sum of EUR 20,000.\u00a0 The second and third place finalists receive EUR 10,000 and EUR 5,000 respectively”.<\/p>\n

First place this year goes to Richard Turere, a 22-year-old Maasai inventor from Kenya, for “an affordable lighting system to protect livestock from predators”.<\/p>\n
