Entry into force of the Madrid Protocol with respect to Brazil on 2 October 2019

As an extension of Canada, Brazil acceded to the Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks (Madrid Protocol) on July 2, 2019, which entered into force for that country on October 2, 2019. This accession of South America’s leading economy will notably enable Swiss economic actors to apply for trademark registrations in this country, via the International trademark, which currently covers 121 countries.
