08 Nov World Innovation Index 2019-Switzerland at the top of the ranking
The World Innovation Index has been published annually since 2007 jointly by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Cornell American University, the European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD) and expert partners.
For 2019, the theme of the index is “Creating a Healthy Lifestyle, the Future of Medical Innovation”.
This year again Switzerland remains at the top of the ranking, ahead of Sweden (2nd position) and the United States (3rd position).
The index report makes it possible to visualize annually a state of innovation at the global level, taking into consideration the profiles of 129 countries and economies on the basis of 80 indicators including investments in research and development, international patent applications, international trademark applications, the creation of mobile applications, exports of high-tech products, etc.)
The European Union countries bordering Switzerland are respectively positioned in the following places: Germany 9th, France 16th, Austria 21st and Italy 30th.
