Madrid Protocol and United Arab Emirates
On December 28, 2021, the Madrid Protocol will enter into force with respect to the United Arab Emirates. This accession will allow economic operators to apply for registration in this territory via the Madrid system, which now covers 125 countries. It is recalled that the Madrid System allows to benefit from a simplified, centralized and low cost procedure for the protection of trademarks in many markets.
Until this date, a trademark can only be protected in the United Arab Emirates through a national application.
