DESIGNEUROPA 2024 : THE WINNERS…
Each year, under the aegis of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the DesignEuropa Awards are presented in recognition of excellence among holders of Registered Community Designs (RCDs).
The DesignEuropa Awards include categories such as ‘Industry’, ‘Small and Start-up Companies’, in addition to the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ that recognises the most influential designers in the world of industrial design.
For 2024, DesignEuropa took on a new dimension by also honouring young emerging designers with the ‘Next Generation Design Award’.
At an event held on 24 September 2024, in Riga, Latvia, the 2024 winners were announced as follows (Source EUIPO) :
‘Industry’ category: LINET spol. s r.o. (Czech Republic) – Essenza 300 LT hospital bed (EM : no 015001476-0001)

This year’s winner of the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’, Dieter Rams, born in 1932 in Wiesbaden – Germany, was honoured for his long career of accomplishments in the design of functional objects (H1 Fan, FS 600 Television, Phase 1 Alarm Clock, L450-2 Loudspeaker, etc.). Dieter Rams and his team have already exhibited their creations internationally at various museums, including the Museum of Applied Arts (Frankfurt), the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa-New York) and the Centre Pompidou (Paris).
Finally, the ‘Next Generation Design Award’ for young designers under the age of 29 was presented this year to Chiara Mignani, a graduate of the University of Genoa-Polytechnic of Milan and designer of eco-friendly yachts.
