EUROPEAN PATENT APPLICATION-FEE REDUCTION FOR SMALL ENTITIES
As part of the changes to the European Patent Office’s (EPO’s) fee regime, effective April 1, 2024, new measures will apply in particular to small, innovative entities in need of financial support in order to complete their European patent application (micro-businesses, individuals, non-profit organizations, etc.). The EPO specifies that “these micro-entities will benefit from a 30% reduction in all the main fees in the patent grant procedure, provided that they have filed less than five applications in the last five years“.
