INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY – APOSTILLE AND CHINA
The Apostille Convention (Convention of October 5, 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents) will come into force for China on November 7, 2023.
The aim of this convention, which now has 125 contracting parties including Switzerland, is to abolish the requirement for legalization of foreign public documents (a cumbersome and costly procedure involving several parties), replacing it with the issuance of an Apostille certificate issued by a competent authority in the document’s place of origin.
