MADRID PROTOCOL – BELIZE

The Madrid Protocol will enter into force on February 24, 2023 with respect to Belize (Central American member of the Commonwealth). Trademark holders from Switzerland (a contracting party to the Madrid Agreement and Protocol) will thus be able to apply for the registration trademarks in this country via the Madrid system that now covers 129 countries. For the record, the Madrid System allows for a simplified, centralized and low-cost procedure for the protection of trademarks in many markets – (Source: World Intellectual Property Organization – December 6, 2022).
