MADRID PROTOCOL – CHILE AND CAPE VERDE

The Madrid Protocol will enter into force for Chile on July 4, 2022 and for Cape Verde on July 6. Applicants from Switzerland (contracting party to the Madrid Agreement and Protocol) will be able to apply for trademark registrations in these two new countries, via the Madrid system, which now covers 128 countries. It is recalled that the Madrid System allows for a simplified, centralized and lower cost procedure for the protection of trademarks in many countries – (Source: World Intellectual Property Organization, April 4 and 6, 2022).
