UNIFIED PATENT COURT (UPC) – ENTRY INTO FORCE ON JUNE 1, 2023
The European Patent with unitary effect and the Unified Patent Court (UPC) were announced to be operational in 2023 –

Germany having just ratified the Agreement on a Unified Patent Court (UPC), the latter will enter into force on June 1, 2023 simultaneously with the launch of the Unitary Patent.
From this date, economic actors will be able to obtain a unitary title with effect in the Member States of the European Union that have ratified the said Agreement.
However, a preliminary period of 3 months (Sunrise period) has started as from March 1, 2023, during which it will be possible to register an “opt out”, i.e. a request for derogation from the jurisdiction of the Unified Patent Court.
